Donor Spotlight: Tera Johnson

Tera Johnson has lived in Alberta all her life. She loves hiking, skiing, and kayaking with her family and friends in the stunning Rocky Mountains. Tera also enjoyed working at the Calgary Public Library for many years, and has since retired but still volunteers there.

After an extreme bout of unintended weight loss, Tera was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at age 43.

“My family, medical team, and Crohn’s and Colitis Canada were amazing in their support through my initial and ongoing treatment, and also during the early part of the pandemic when I felt vulnerable.”

In appreciation, Tera and her husband have become passionate supporters of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. “My husband and I feel giving to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is our way of supporting others who may be going through similar challenges. I feel privileged to be able to contribute to the community that supported me and my husband when we needed it.”

For the past six years, Tera and her family have made annual donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. “I know that our donation is hard at work within Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, and that gives me shared hope—whether it’s a patient hoping for better medication, or a researcher hoping for new equipment, or a parent hoping for a healthy future for their children.

Giving to something meaningful is fulfilling. If you are looking to support an organization that will take your gift, in whatever form you choose to give, and use it fully, Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is an excellent choice.
